Underarm Madness

Hey guys!

Today we will be talking about underarms and the nightmare that occurs when they are dark. There are many ways to tackle armpit darkness but some of those methods can be costly, such as, waxing. I really loved waxing my underarms but it wasn't financially practical. A few months ago I noticed my underarms were getting excessively dark and that was not cute, especially during summer when they were exposed all the time. After some research and trying different things I discovered the perfect regiment for me. I thought I would share this awesome routine with you guys and hopefully you guys will receive great results like I did. Disclaimer: it takes a few weeks to really see a huge difference, it is definitely not an over night fix.

The three most important things I use are:

  • Epilator, this one is from Epilady Legend 4th Generation, I ordered it from Hautelook some time back and it ran me about $60 bucks with delivery. (Worth it!)
  • Sugar Scrub, any will do.
  • Rough Loofah, I purchased mine at an H2O Plus warehouse a few years back and never used it until now. (Do not remember the price)

I definitely feel like this epilator was well worth it, waxing cost about $15 bucks per session plus tips. I use this epilator for my underarms, arms, and legs. I purchased this specific sugar scrub in Chicago and cannot remember the store or cost. This loofa sort of thing is from H2O and scrubs perfectly, but I am sure you can find a good loofa at your local store.

The trick for tackling dark underarms is scrubbing ALL deodorant off. If you don't, the deodorant will get clogged in your pores and cause darkness. Daily I will add a drop of body wash on my loofa and scrub my underarms gently, you do not want to scrub harshly and cause irritation. A rough loofa like this will remove all residue caused by sweat and deodorant.

Once a week I will grab a generous amount of sugar scrub and rub my underarms gently, I use my hands to rub the sugar scrub in. This allows my underarms to cleanse while moisturizing.  I prevent and remove any ingrown spots I may have. Ingrown hair is common, but it's very important to make sure you remove them as it can cause irritation and sometimes infections.

Epilate-ing will pluck the hair out instead of shaving just the surface hair. I must admit this can be painful in the beginning but it's tolerable. By plucking the hair the epilator grabs the hair from the root, over time your underarm hairs will grow thinner and less. When you pluck a hair it does not leave a dark shadow under the skin which can also be a part of the darkness you may have.

I suggest to first wash your underarms and allow them to dry completely before using your epilator. I get the best results this way and minimal bacteria gets on my epilator. Make sure to wipe your epilator after every use, I use a q-tip and a little bit of alcohol.

I hope this helped! I took a picture of my underarms to show you guys how mine look. There is really no way to take a flattering picture of armpits.
